Although we may think of pallet trucks are being the go-to piece of equipment for moving anything and everything around the warehouse, yard, and even lorries, there are different types. Each different kind of pallet truck is useful for a specific reason, so it pays to do some research before purchasing any type of truck, just to make sure that you’re getting the best one for you and your business.
Hand Pallet Truck
This is the most basic of all the pallet trucks, but just because it’s basic doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. This is the easiest of all the trucks to use, and it requires the least amount of training, so for time saving it’s perfect. This truck will easily take heavy loads from one place to another will little effort required by the user. The operator just has to position the forks using the steering column and jack, pump up the trucks, and steer it all away.
Weighing Scale Pallet Truck
This type of truck may not be something that every business and warehouse needs, but if it is something that would be of use once you have one you will wonder how you ever managed without. There is, as the name
suggests, a scale on the truck which tells you how heavy the load is. This can be extremely useful when there is a load limit in place on the lorry, the road, or even at the destination. Making sure that you don’t tip over that weight limit can save you a lot of time and potentially money.
High Lift Pallet Truck
The high lift pallet truck is a handy thing. Although for most of the time a standard pallet truck is absolutely fine, there will be occasions and situations in which the item or items on the truck need to be lifted much higher than usual – perhaps they need to be lifted from an assembly line or higher platform. This is where a high lift pallet truck comes into its own. Lifting the pallet to a working height can also reduce back problems in workers as they don’t have to bend as much as they would with a standard pallet truck.
Manual Stackers
Manual stackers aren’t pallet trucks per se, but they are used in a similar fashion. It certainly makes moving the pallets around much easier, but it can also lift them much more easily than any other manual machine. This is the midway piece of equipment between a pallet truck and a forklift, and is perfect for small spaces.
